    CPLDComplex Programmable Logic Device and FPGAField-Programmable Gate Array are both types of programmable logic devices (PLD), which play an important role in digital circuit design and are highly customizable and flexible.

    I. Basic Concepts
    CPLD: Complex Programmable Logic Device, developed from PAL and GAL devices, belongs to the large-scale integrated circuit category. It allows users to construct digital integrated circuits with logical functions according to their own needs.
    FPGA: Field programmable gate array, which is a further development of programmable devices such as PAL, GAL, CPLD, etc. As a semi-custom circuit in the field of application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), it addresses the shortcomings of custom circuits and overcomes the limitation of the limited number of gate circuits in existing programmable devices.

    II. Structure and Composition
    CPLD:
    It is mainly composed of three parts: logic block, programmable interconnection channel and I/O block.
    A logic block is similar to a small-scale PLD, usually containing multiple macro cells, each of which consists of a product term array, a product term allocation, and programmable registers.
    The programmable interconnect channel provides an interconnect network between logic blocks, macro cells, and input/output pins.
    The I/O block provides an interface between internal logic and device I/O pins.
    FPGA:
    It is composed of a series of programmable logic units such as look-up tables LUTs and flip-flops.
    These logic units and flip-flops can be programmed to implement various logic functions and are connected together through logic gates and wires.
    FPGAs also contain a series of input/output I/O pins for communicating with external circuits or other FPGAs.
